Revenue Officers And Assistant Revenue Officers

The National Revenue Authority is an equal opportunity employer responsible for the mobilization of revenue in Sierra Leone. In its aspiration to maximizing revenue collection for the development of the country, the Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill positions as Revenue Officers and Assistant Revenue Officers.

1. General Job Roles

To perform the tasks relating to the administration of domestic taxes in line with the relevant tax laws, procedures, systems, business processes and performance standards set out for the relevant field (Post) of interest in order to ensure conformity to the laws and standard practice in field operations and make such reports as required by management.

 

2. Qualification

i) Revenue Officers:  First degree (minimum) in Economics, Accounting, Public Finance or other relevant field(s).

Experience: two years (minimum) relevant working experience.

Competencies

  • Ability to effectively assess, collect and account for domestic revenue;
  • Ability and skills to deal with difficult taxpayers;
  • High ethical standard and integrity;
  • Proven ability in dealing with the public;;
  • Ability to carry-out audit trail in order to recover revenue;
  • Ability to integrate and work in harmony with taxpayers without yielding grounds on procedures and integrity;
  • Ability to confront and follow-through on difficult issues.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in the  use of computer application packages such as Ms. Word, Excel and Access;

 

ii) Assistant Revenue Officers: Diploma  in Economics, Accounting, Public  Finance or other relevant  in relevant field(s)

Competencies     

  • Ability to demonstrate a high standard of integrity and positive attitude towards work;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to promote and maintain teamwork;
  • Ability to learn on the job and apply job related skills;;
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in the use of computer applications;
  • Ability to integrate and work in harmony with taxpayers without yielding grounds on procedures and integrity;
  • Ability to confront and follow-through on difficult issues.

 

3. Prerequisite Conditions

Candidates will be required to attempt a pre-recruitment examination.
