The National Revenue Authority (NRA) and the Audit Service Sierra Leone held a high-level stakeholder engagement to strengthen collaboration on implementing audit recommendations. The discussion reaffirmed both institutions’ commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound public financial management.
Acting Auditor General Mr. Abdul Aziz emphasized that audits are conducted not to target institutions but to uphold compliance, efficiency, and public trust. He acknowledged past concerns regarding parliamentary presentations and reassured the NRA of the Audit Service’s openness to constructive dialogue and proactive engagement.
Commissioner General of the NRA, Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura, commended the Audit Service for a timely and strategic engagement. She reaffirmed the NRA’s commitment to implementing audit recommendations and enhancing compliance, highlighting the importance of ongoing collaboration and regular engagements. Senior NRA officials echoed same commitment, emphasizing continuous dialogue and timely updates to prevent discrepancies.
Both institutions agreed on key outcomes, including stronger collaboration ahead of public disclosures, improved compliance, and proactive stakeholder engagement. They pledged to reinforce governance, fiscal responsibility, and public sector efficiency. Additionally, a structured framework for continuous monitoring and reporting will be established to track progress, ensuring greater accountability and contributing to national development.
