In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving tax administration, a delegation from the National Revenue Authority Sierra Leone led by the Board Chairperson Mr. Kabineh M. Kallon, embarked on a study tour to the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA). The visit focused on gaining insights into the evolution of tax declaration and payment systems, particularly the implementation of E-TAX, which has transformed the tax landscape in Rwanda. The delegation engaged in discussions on the legal frameworks that support these systems, exploring best practices and potential challenges faced during the transition to digital platforms.
The tour which was facilitated by the Rwanda Cooperation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation included a comprehensive examination of the Electronic Billing Machine (EBM) system, which has streamlined invoicing processes and enhanced compliance among taxpayers. By sharing experiences and strategies, the two revenue authorities aim to foster collaboration and innovation in tax collection methods, ultimately leading to increased revenue generation and improved public services. It also aims to improve the South-South corporation between developing countries. This partnership highlights the commitment of African countries to modernize their tax systems and promote economic growth through effective governance.
