In a proactive move to improve and sustain enhanced customs operation at the bustling Queen Elizabeth Quay II, NRA custom officials, alongside the Management of Sierra Leone Ports and Harbour Authority (SLPHA) and key stakeholders from security agencies, conducted a thorough physical examination of a shipping container. During the inspection, a stash of dried leaves suspected to be ‘kush’, and other liquid chemical substances were uncovered . This operation raises concerns about illegal trade practices, and also highlights the ongoing vigilance of NRA in safeguarding national interests and ensuring compliance with trade regulations.
The Commissioner of Customs Services Department Mr. Tennyson Bio emphasized that such collaborative efforts are crucial in maintaining the integrity of the nation's borders. By implementing stringent checks and fostering partnerships with port operators, they aim to deter smuggling activities and enhance revenue collection. Other state Officials reiterated their commitment to a transparent and efficient customs operation, assuring the public that they will continue to adapt and respond proactively to emerging challenges in the trade landscape.
