The National Revenue Authority (NRA) tax education team, led by the Commissioner General, Jeneba J. Bangura, today joined the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE) in Moyamba to provide tax education to hundreds of stakeholders, taxpayers, and community beneficiaries, including traditional leaders, market women and traders, students, and workers, as part of MoICE's Provincial Civic Day Series.
The NRA focused its engagement on the theme “Relevance of paying Taxes on National Development".
The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for the NRA to engage directly with taxpayers and emphasize the significance of tax compliance and civic responsibility. During the event, the Commissioner -General delivered an impactful address, underscoring the vital role of taxes in national development and the advantages of having an informed taxpayer base “It is a civic responsibility to pay taxes, and when we pay taxes, the government uses the money to bring development to our communities,” Commissioner General Bangura highlighted.
The day featured interactive discussions and informational booths designed to educate participants about their tax obligations and the recent reforms implemented by the NRA. By capitalizing on the festive atmosphere of Civic Day, the NRA effectively promoted taxpayer education, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability while ensuring that citizens understood their contributions to the nation's growth.
