In the spirit of strategic collaboration and partnership to strengthen revenue mobilization and tax administration, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) and the Freetown City Council (FCC) met to map out strategies to harness revenue generation within the municipality. The meeting was held at the highest levels of the two entities.
โThis is the first time in years that this kind of high-level strategic collaboration between NRA and FCC is happening and at the FCC we will align our revenue generation strategies with those of NRA, particularly in the realm of tax educationโ, recognized by the Deputy Mayor Mr. Kweku M. Lisk.
โThe partnership between the FCC and NRA will be critical to present and future revenue generation effort of the NRA. The FCC is one of the key critical but challenging sources of revenue especially in the area of rental income tax. We should explore all synergies in areas of joint tax education and data sharing in order to optimize revenue collection for our people and countryโ, acknowledged by the Commissioner General, Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura
A joint committee comprising representatives from NRA and FCC has been established and charged with the responsibilities of putting the operational mechanisms including review of existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the groundwork for a new era of collaboration, leveraging the strengths of the Authority and municipality to advance shared objectives and optimize domestic revenue generation.
