The Legal and Corporate Services Department plays a crucial role in achieving the Authority’s mandate in line with its Strategic Plan by providing the organization with a full range of services. Together with the Public Affairs and Tax Education Unit, it is the communication and information hub of the National Revenue Authority and is responsible for engaging taxpayers on all platforms. This department also maintains a close relationship with management, proffering advice, and support to all departments.
The Department is split into two units namely:
Policy & Legal Affairs
Public Affairs and Tax Education (PATE).
Functions of the two Units of this Department:
Policy & Legal Affairs (PLA) Unit
Provides internal legal services and coordinates with retained solicitors for external legal services.
Ensures staff compliance with the Authority’s Terms and Conditions of Service and Code of Conduct and investigates any alleged infringements.
Proposes effective legislation and ensures compliance with all tax laws.
Proffers legal and corporate advice to the Commissioner General on the daily operation of the Authority.
Responsible for the drafting and execution of all legal documentation.
Ensures the Authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is fulfilled through advice to the Commissioner General.
The Public Affairs and Tax Education (PATE) Unit
The Public Affairs and Tax Education (PATE) Unit coordinates all Tax Education Programs, serves as the Communication and Information Hub for the Institution manages the NRA Call Centre, and perpetuates the Brand Image of the Institution. The Unit also undertakes other functions which are:
Initiate and implement all NRA Stakeholders management programs.
Manages media and government relations.
Create Content for all NRA mainstream and Social Media Platforms.
The public information hub for tax reforms, policies, laws, and regulations.
Functions as Watchdog for the National Revenue Authority.
